It’s the one time when a treasure trove of obscure facts and useless information will brand you as a hero instead of a total geek: trivia night. Here are some of our favorite trivia nights in the Bay Area. Game on.

San Jose
I always have a soft spot for a bar that doesn’t have a TV. When your grandpa wanted to kick back after another long day at the salt mines, he didn’t want TV, just a cold one and some company. That’s what you’ll find at San Jose’s Trials Pub. That and their Monday night trivia (starts at 8pm). Plus they serve Imperial Pints (careful!).

Peninsula
In case you needed ANOTHER reason to hang out at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Foster City, there’s the Brainstormer Pub Quiz. Actually, it’s the spot to find some of the tougher quiz teams in the area. Bring your game face and don’t be late (starts at 6:30).

San Francisco
It’s one of the most popular quiz nights in town for a reason. The Mad Dog in the Fog Pub is the place to be on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 8pm (get there early if you want a table). Plus, they let you serve your own beer!

The Pig And Whistle has its own softball team, its own soccer team and its own cricket team. It also has some pretty great trivia on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:30pm. And no true English pub would be complete without a host of British Isle delicacies. Although I’m pretty sure the Garden Burger is a stateside addition.
