Creative wall treatments
The walls are the window to the soul. The way you decorate your home says a lot about you and it all starts with the walls. Creatively decorating the walls is an inexpensive and simple way to make your living space more reflective of your personality. Something as simple as painting, hanging pictures, art, mirrors or display shelves can completely transform a room from dull to divine. The wall is your canvas. Experiment with stripes, colors, and textures.
Besides establishing the overall feel of a room, walls can be the place to proudly display the things you love and store the things you only like.
Learn a few simple rules to trick the eye. When used on the walls of your home they can create the illusion of more space and create the perfect mood.
Think of your walls much in the way you do your body when you get dressed. If you’re frame is on the “vertically challenged” side of the spectrum, vertical stripes are going to make you look longer, taller and leaner. The same is true of your walls - in particular hallways. Consider accentuating length with horizontal stripes or a wall of frames to draw the eye down the hall
Switch things up. Color on the couch and neutral colors on the walls are a tried and true approach. However, a neutral colored couch with color on the wall (in the form of paint or artwork or a lantern from Chinatown) can keep a room out of a rut.
Collectibles NOT clutter. Wear your collection loud and proud in organized rows on your walls. A set of easy-to-mount floating shelves can turn your grandmother’s tea cup, your elementary school lunch box or even your boyfriend’s Star Wars figure collection into a nice conversation starter.
